Rita Chan Interiors

Rita donahoe

Rita is native to California, where she grew up in the north and then headed south to attend college at USC, where she graduated in Communications and Business in 2003. After 6 years of working in both the non-profit and corporate worlds, and while traveling the globe at every opportunity, she found her true calling in Interior Design. She then enrolled in the interior architecture program at UCLA and simultaneously began to work for Waterleaf Interiors in Manhattan Beach. During her 5 years at Waterleaf and while at design school, Rita began to take lead on large scale residential design projects and eventually established Rita Chan Interiors in 2013. She has since worked on a wide variety of projects, from furnishing, to renovating, to building homes from the ground up.

Rita has a penchant for a clean, coastal aesthetic and believes in creating a peaceful environment at home that makes every day feel like a vacation. More than anything, she loves working with her clients to bring meaning and personality into every space.

You can find Rita and her team in Santa Barbara, California where they are influenced by the abundance of beautiful, historic architecture and are constantly looking to the mountains and the ocean for inspiration that will translate to timeless design.

After graduating from the Interior Design Program at Santa Barbara City College in 2012, Lauren began her career with Hofmann Architecture, designing small mobile spaces and managing design/build projects.  After 5 years with Hofmann Architecture, Lauren struck out on her own working on residential renovation projects. She joined Rita Chan Interiors as Project Manager and Designer in February of 2018.

Lauren's fluid design aesthetic is a combination of modern, clean and sleek elements mixed with complementary textures and materials, which is perfectly in step with Rita Chan Interiors signature style. She brings a wealth of experience, energy and joy to the team and stands at the ready to tackle her next projects.
